The Socialist Party in Seattle likely created the Russia Did It leaflet and distributed approximately 40,000 copies to people out on strike during the Seattle General Strike that took place from February 6 to 11, 1919. This leaflet reminds shipyard workers that they have power in their labor, and with this power, they could take control of not only their jobs but their lives. The authors of the leaflet also point out that in the recent revolution, Russian workers took over their industries and that this could also be done in Seattle. The leaflet concludes with a call to action: "You are doomed to wage slavery till you die unless you wake up, realize that you and the boss have not one thing in common, that the employing class must be overthrown, and that you, the workers, must take over the control of your jobs, and thru [sic] them, the control over your lives instead of offering yourselves up to the masters as a sacrifice six days a week, so that they may coin profits out of your sweat and toil."
